Cher Marie

On the banks of the bayou all alone

A little cottage sits , overgrown

A roof that needs fixin lets the stars in the kitchen

Faces I knew here are gone

CH

Don’t believe I’ll forget you

That the memory will fade

You’ll be gone for a long time

So goodbye cher Marie

Marie came from over the sea

Fleeing from hard tyranny

With just hope in her hand, she came to a foreign land

Yearning to live and breathe free

CH

Marie is no longer around

Left her old house tumbled down

Once all sunshine and grace, a rose in a vase

Farewell to you my creole belle
